10 Good Things on a Monday

Hello friends! How was your weekend? Great fun I hope! Mine was definitely nice, lounging around the house, eating whatever I want. But alas! Monday has rolled in again, and I must say, just thinking about work makes me want to crawl under the covers, willing time to stop. So what I thought I would do, is put up a list of good things I like that might help cheer me up. I'm a fan of making lists - list the books I want to read, list things I will do in the weekend, even list the things I need to do on a particular day. I found that it helps me relieve my anxiety, and so I am going to do it here on my blog, to help me think happy thoughts, and also to provide a pleasant diversion from reviewing books. Starting this week, I will be doing a list of 10 things of whatever came to mind. Not necessarily about books, could be about food or anything.

And I am going to call it, 10 Good Things on a Monday

Isn't that monster cute? Hehe...

If you would like to do the same, grab that cute monster above and use it for your 10 Good Things, then you may post the link on the comment thingy below so I and other bloggers and readers may read about your good things :D

So for the first-ever list I'm posting, I'll be listing my 10 favorite book covers.

(In random order)

1. When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead. If you've been reading my blog long enough, you probably know this by now. I love drawings, and this one here's pretty neat.

2. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll - Vintage Fantasy Edition. It's clean and simple, and I love the tights, reminds me actually of the Cheshire Cat.

3. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson. I just got this book and I love the sparkly detail on the cover.

4. Life On the Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers - Macmillan Edition. It's pink and it's got a lot of cute drawings!

5. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. I love minimalist and clean designs and like the cover for Alice above, this is very simple yet interesting.

6. The Key to the Golden Firebird by Maureen Johnson. I like silhouettes, and this one has sort of a vintage-y feel.

7. Delirium by Lauren Oliver. It's very simple yet it demands and holds your attention. I swear the cover was the main thing that attracted me to this. Can't wait to read it!

8. All My Friends are Dead by Avery Monsen and Jory John. Just looking at the cover is enough to make me laugh!

9. Pride and Prejudice - cover done by Ruben Toledo. It's so artsy and modern, but still has that classic appeal.

10. The Magus by John Fowles. I love paper dolls, and I only picked up this book because of the cover. Whether I liked the book itself, find out in an upcoming review :D

So there you go, my first 10 Good Things. Somehow, I'm already regaining my energy, and I hope it sustains through the whole week. Happy Monday everyone!

  3. Julia: I don't have a name for that monster yet, but I'm glad you like him. I just drew him this morning so I need time to think of a name. Dinosaurs rock!

Ruperto: I've been seeing a lot of Before I Fall, I might have to actually look that one up. Yeah I like the Delirium cover, hopefully the story is as good as the cover, if not better. Glad you liked the banner. I did it myself :D

  4. Hahah, the one with the dinosaur also makes me laugh. Very cool book covers!! And I like this idea for Mondays. Maybe you'll open it up to other bloggers who follow you to join in if you make it a permanent weekly thing?!

  10. I love that you said you were drawn to Delirium because of the cover. I just did a cover review of Delirium comparing the ARC cover and the official one you posted. I much preferred the ARC cover. I'd be interesting in hearing your thoughts on the two. Here's the Delirium Cover Review post if you're interested.

I agree, the All My Friends are Dead cover is adorable! I love the facial expression. So simple, yet so perfect!

I just have to tell you, ARGH feeds on awesomeness, so if you can, drop him some awesome here, and I promise to give some awesome back :D

Right now, because of my really busy schedule, I'm cutting back on receiving awards. So until further notice, me and ARGH would not be accepting awards. But thank you for thinking of us, we really appreciate it!
