One Lovely Blog Award

Another awesome award!  I would love to thank Bonnie from Hands and Home, as well as Mia from Book Haven.  I'm so happy to receive this!

What to do when receiving this award:

  1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his or her blog link.
  2. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered.
  3. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

Unfortunately, I am too busy to hunt down 15 new bloggers I could give this award to, and I only came up with six.  I hope that's acceptable.

Jess from Gone with the Words

Congratulations to those receiving this award! Go check out other blogs on the list as well. When passing this award along please send to other bloggers not on this list.

The Great Memetastic Reveal!

Last week, I was given the Memetastic Award from Cat of Cat's Thoughts and let me just again tell her Thank You!  So if you recall, one of the instructions was to provide four partially true stuff about me, and one that is completely true and let readers guess which is which.  This post is dedicated to revealing the true and not-so true statements ARGH and I told you, our awesome readers.

Mine:
  1. I was born on the day John Lennon was killed. - Not entirely true.  I was born December 8,  but not in 1980.  I'm still in my twenties so that can't be :D
  2. I have an older brother. - Not true.  I do have a brother, but he is younger than me.
  3. Two days ago, I gave a speech about the dangers of Malaria in a small town north of the city. - Not true.  I did give a speech but it was about Dengue fever.
  4. I have never read any book of Harry Potter in my entire life. - So TRUE!  I don't know if I should be ashamed of that fact but yes, I have not yet read NOR watched any Harry Potter for the simple fact that I don't like series much.  This might change in the future, though.
  5. I am the only female among my cousins on my father's side. - Not true.  I used to be the only female among my cousins on my  father's side until I was eleven years old, when my newest female cousin was born.
ARGH's:
  1. He descended from a noble family of bookworms. - Nope, not true.  He descended from a family of bookworms.  Not a noble family, just bookworms.
  2. He loves eating meatballs while hanging upside down from the ceiling. - Not true.  He could not even hang down from the ceiling to save his life!
  3. A famous author once wrote a journal post with ARGH's name as its title. - TRUE.  Neil Gaiman wrote a blog post entitled ARGH just recently in January.
  4. He loves books like Hannibal by Thomas Harris, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. - Only partially true.  Although he does love most of these books, if you have read a previous discussion post about first person versus third persona narration, you would know that ARGH prefers third-person narratives and therefore is not a really big fan of The Catcher in the Rye.
  5. He is a very cute and small monster. - Nope.  He is a very cute but HUGE monster.
Did you guess correctly?  Well then you're all kinds of awesome!  But if not, that's okay, but I do hope we gave you a good laugh.  Have a great day everyone!

Memetastic Award from Cat @Cat's Thoughts - Thank You!

In a span of less than one week after receiving the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award, I received another award, this time from Cat of Cat's Thoughts.

As usual, ARGH and I jumped for joy when we saw this, and he is very excited about this because his favorite number is five, and this is the fifth award we got.

So from ARGH and myself, we would like to give Cat a really big:
As a condition of my acceptance of this adorable award, I have to share five things about myself.  In those five things, four must be partially fictitious, or enhanced realities (read - kinda true, but kinda not), and then one full factoid.  I must also pass this award along to seven other awesome bloggers.  Feel free to make guesses about which one is the completely true one, I'll post the answers later in the week!
Because ARGH was especially excited about this one, he would also like to participate in sharing some true and partially-true things about himself, and you can  also guess which is true.

Mine:
  1. I was born on the day John Lennon was killed.
  2. I have an older brother.
  3. Two days ago, I gave a speech about the dangers of Malaria in a small town north of the city.
  4. I have never read any book of Harry Potter in my entire life.
  5. I am the only female among my cousins on my father's side.

ARGH's:
  1. He descended from a noble family of bookworms.
  2. He loves eating meatballs while hanging upside down from the ceiling.
  3. A famous author once wrote a journal post with ARGH's name as its title.
  4. He loves books like Hannibal by Thomas Harris, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
  5. He is a very cute and small monster.
So, can you guess which is true and not?

And now, for our awardees:

The Elf of The Book Elf
Rie of Mission To Read

Isn't it great that we get to have awards from different blogs?  This way, we get to know each other better and we gain more friends :D

Watch out for our post on which is truth and which is exaggerated next week!

The Irresistibly Sweet Award... Thank You Lah @Lazy Girl Reads!

I just got back from the real world and back into cyberspace and look what welcomes me... An Award!  And from my bestest bloggy friend Lah of Lazy Girl Reads!  You know, if situations were reversed, I would give this award to her, too because like what she said about me about commenting on whatever she posts, she also did the same, and she's actually one of the first bloggy friends I had since starting this blog so I really, really think that she's soooooooo sweet!
That's from ARGH and me

As a thank you, I have to give this to six other Irresistibly Sweet bloggers and talk about four of my guilty pleasures.

Okay, so four guilty pleasures (this is difficult because I almost always deny that I have a guilty pleasure...  Most of them are embarrassing!):
1.  Junk food.  I am such a bad nurse - I love junk food even MORE than the next person, which usually leads to my mom getting mad at me sometimes when she sees me eating one.  Imagine your mother scolding you about your food choices when you're in your twenties - it's that bad!

So good yet so bad!
 2.  Wedding gowns.  I'm not getting married anytime soon, but I have this thing about wedding gowns, I'm crazy about them!  Right now I really love the simple, structured, and clean lines of Rosa Clara, and the frilly, whimsical silhouettes of Vera Wang.

From the Rosa Clara Spring 2011 Collection
3.  Raw noodles.  This is weird.  You know those instant noodles?  I love eating them raw.  I would get cup noodles or a pack of them and I'd just eat them right away.  This began when I was four and my mom was going to cook noodle soup and she gave me a small piece of raw noodles, and I was hooked!

Yum!
4.  Books.  This is probably the only guilty pleasure I won't be ashamed about.  Obviously, everyone of us here are addicted to books, but sometimes I wonder if it's already an addiction.  I could not stop myself from going to the bookstore even chance I get.  Sometimes, I don't even have anywhere to go that day but I'd suddenly go out and find myself in the bookstore, ogling new books and pestering the book people about when this book or that book is going to be released.

My bookshelf...  Not really as big as yours but I'm really proud of those books!

And now, this award goes to...

1.  Aobibliosphere because we're both Filipinas and I want to give her some Pinay ♥!
2.  Jenni Elyse because she's also one of the earliest bloggy friends I ever made, apart from the fact that her name sounds very sweet too!  I totally love it :D
3.  Alissa from The Grammarian's Reviews because she's so smart and makes these really hot topics of discussion.  I love her blog!
4.  Playing Librarian - we almost have the same tastes in books and that's so sweet - not to mention awesome!
5.  Khadija from Black Fingernailed Reviews because every time we visit each other's blogs another book is added to our wishlist :D
6.  Ashley from BookAholics Anonymous because she is a self-confessed bookaholic... And so am I!

I would have loved to give this award to every blog I'm following because:  a) Not every blog accepts awards; b) I'll never get finished enumerating everyone; and c) I'm supposed to give this to just SIX people.  But no worries, you're all really irresistibly sweet, and best of all, A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

The Stylish Blogger Award

So ARGH and I were just minding our own business when we saw a comment on one of my blog posts and a message in the mail:  SimplyMe of Simply Me, A Book Addict and the Mad Scientist of Steampunkery and Book Reviews have just given us the Stylish Blogger Award!  ARGH was like:

  what a big mouth!

And then he was like:

We're so surprised and so happy about this award!  Who knew we've got style? :D  And so we'd like to tell SimplyMe and the Mad Scientist and all our other followers who loves us:
As with every award, there are certain rules that need to be observed:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

Seven things about myself:
  1. Because I so badly wanted to fit in when I was in sixth grade - when the cool crowd all wore glasses, I wore my mother's old 250/20 prescription glasses to school for a week.  I was given my own glasses at the start of high school and by then, the obsession to wear glasses has worn off.  I now have 150/20 vision both eyes.
  2. When I was four years old, I used to fancy joining those Little Miss competitions and I would practice my routine in front of my grandmother.  I would always sing Whitney Houston's One Moment in Time for the talent portion.
  3. I love mixing Nutella with dark chocolate spread.
  4. While other kids have their 'blankie' or their dollies, I have my own very long pillow that I couldn't sleep without.  Until now.  But no, it's not the same pillow that I had when I was younger, I do change it when it's really old.  I call those pillows 'Mr. Bolster' because they bolster my ability to sleep.
  5. I can easily remember numbers off the top of my head more than words.  Example:  I know every cellphone number on my phone book without memorizing them, but I have to memorize a short poem for an hour.
  6. I have a younger brother who's taller than me and sometimes, older people who have bad eyes always mistake him as the older kid.
  7. I am crazy for the band, Taken by Cars.
ARGH wanted in on the fun too, but he could only think of three things:
  1. His body is like a sponge, any object would just bounce off his body.
  2. He loves to eat spaghetti and meatballs.
  3. He thinks zombies are missing too much out of life to go walking around all day craving for brains.

And now passing this award to these Awesome and Oh-so Stylish blogs I've recently discovered:

Again, thank you, and to the bloggers I'm passing this award on to, Congratulations!  Let's all keep rockin' and stay stylish :D

Life is Good Award

I just got a heads up from Ivan of Ivan Bookworm that he is giving me the Life is Good Award!  Yay‼

UPDATE:  Cynthia at Wytch's Mirror is also passing this award onto me.  Isn't it wonderful?  Thank you, Cynthia!

Here's the picture trophy :D

I am so thrilled and so is ARGH and we'd love to say:

So apparently, we also have do the following tasks for this award:

1. First, thank and link back to the person that gave the award.
2. Answer the 10 survey questions
3. Pass the award along to other bloggers whom you think are fantastic.
4. Contact the bloggers you have chosen to let them know about the award.

10 survey questions:

1. If you blog anonymously, are you happy doing this?   If you are not anonymous, do you wish that you had started out anonymously, so that you could be anonymous now?

A:  Not exactly anonymous because sometimes I like to share something about myself that's still sort of related to what this blog is all about because that makes things interesting.  I mean, if I were a reader of this blog, I would definitely get bored just reading book reviews and memes but not really being able to connect with the person behind those stuff.  But I do not like to share too much of myself for obvious reasons, and because I don't really think that's necessary.  This is not a personal blog, anyway.

2. Describe an incident that shows your inner stubborn side.

A:  I've got a lot of that!  I am a very stubborn person, and headstrong too.  Once I've made up my mind about something, it's very difficult to change my mind.  But one incident:  I was in high school and we were having our school fair.  My class was assigned to work on the Horror House and I was one of the 'ghosts.'  During break, I really needed to go get something to eat but I did not want to take off my makeup because it was difficult to put on, my classmates were already insisting that I change costumes first before going and that they'd help me with changing later on but I wouldn't listen.  I was too concerned with how much effort would be put into getting into my costume again.  So off I went to the cafeteria.  On the way there, I had to go down three sets of stairs and my dress was quite long, I kept tripping on my skirts and on the last step, I tripped again and fell face first on the floor.  So much for my stubbornness, not only do I have to re-do my makeup, I had to nurse a black eye for days after that.

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?

A:  Mirrors break when I look at them.  Just kidding :p  I see someone with sharp eyes, the kind that people know cannot be fooled, I see a pair of lips that spew words dripping with dry wit and sarcasm, and I see a face that looks back at me and tells me I have to do something.  What that something is, I haven't really figured out yet.

4. What is your favorite summer cold drink?

A:  Watermelon shake!  But my really favorite cold drink is cold, icy water.

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?

A:  Read, eat, read, sleep.

6. Is there something that you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?

A:  Put up my own bookstore (more on that next time), have kids that I would dress up like me, even if I have a boy, and of course, travel the world!

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever, the shy person, or always ditching?

A:  I was the class clown and class achiever - not really overachiever, no, I could not get past the ceiling grades back then and I did not really want to because I thought I would need a lot of brain cells when I get out of school.  Good foresight, I had.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualize a very poignant moment in your life, what would you see?

A:  When I had to kiss and hug my father goodbye when he died :-(

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?

A:  Depends on my mood and the topic.

10. If you had the choice to sit down and read a book or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?

A:  Read AND talk on the phone!  Who said you could only do just one?  But really, I'd rather read.  Talking on the phone can wait, I wouldn't have that much to say anyway.
So that wraps up the survey.  The following are the people ARGH and I would like to pass this award to, and we hope they'd love it as much as we did:

Lazy Girl Reads
Once again, thank you very much Ivan and Cynthia for giving us this award, ARGH and I love it, and congratulations to everyone who received this as well‼

My First Ever Award: The Versatile Blogger Award

My first award woohoo‼ I would like to thank Mariya at Mystifying Paranormal Reviews, Cleo at Booklopedia, and J-9 at Blood Rose Books for awarding me the Versatile Blogger award *sniffs in true beauty queen fashion*

*UPDATE: Lulu at The Bookworm is Here and Amanda from Amanda's Writings also gave me this award, and I would like to extend my thanks to them.

Here's a 'picture' of my picture trophy:

So I learned that with this award comes *not too* great responsibility:
  1. Thank and link back to the person that gave this award.
  2. Write 7 things about yourself.
  3. Pass the award to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic.
  4. Contact the bloggers you have picked to let them know about the award.
And here are seven random things about me:
  1. I can do different voices, and sometimes I do impressions of Cookie Monster, Spongebob, and Patrick Starfish, etc. But my favorite is copying Bart Simpson.
  2. I don't like touching flowers and plants due to an unreasonable fear of worms, caterpillars, and other creepy crawlies.
  3. However, I am not afraid of cockroaches, and I do have a bit of a sadistic streak when killing them. (Think cremation)
  4. I punched a boy in class when I was still in grade school for no reason.
  5. I can deliberately hide my pupils and just let the whites of my eyes show.
  6. I adore Audrey Hepburn.
  7. I like spoilers. I like movies but I like being able to read about them beforehand, so I have at least just a bit of idea what's going on. It doesn't spoil the excitement, I'm just like that.
And there you have it, folks, useless things about myself, that I dare you to use against me :p

Here are the 15 blogs I will be passing along this award to:

  1. The Deranged Book Lovers
  2. Sam Still Reading
  3. Bookable Reads
  4. I Am A Reader Not A Writer
  5. Fiction Spark
  6. A Tale of Many Reviews

  10. Library Mosaic
  11. Book Purring
  12. YA Bookie Monster
  13. Darkeva's Blog
