I am crazy about Audrey Hepburn.  I watched all her movies thousands of times and probably know most of her lines by heart.  I am very fascinated by her beauty, her fashion sense, and her philosophy in life.  That's why I was so excited to get this book on her - my very first!  What's more awesome is that I got this brand new at 90 percent off!  What a deal right?

The Teaser:

'"I wanted to be Margot Fonteyn and a choreographer as well." - A.H.'

My Teaser:
There is an exciting new writer on the block!  I was introduced to Steve Piacente and his book, Bella, through a giveaway from a fellow blogger, Kate Evangelista of Reads, Reviews, Recommends.  What's more awesome is that not only did I receive a copy of this book, it was signed by Steve himself, with more than a couple of bookmarks that look so lovely.  This is my first-ever book win and I am so excited, I decided to skip the book I was supposed to read to replace with this one!

Summary:

A striking widow intent on proving the military lied about her husband's death lures a Washington journalist into the investigation. Working together, they discover the power of temptation, the futility of revenge, and the consequences of yielding to either.

The Teaser:

"It's possible.  He's capable of deception, as we've seen.  I'll do some snooping.  I'll let you know if I find anything."

Technically, as you can see on my sidebar, I am currently reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.  However, I haven't really started it already so I thought I could still share a teaser from Room by Emma Donoghue.  I really loved this book, and I will be posting a review shortly.  Watch out for that!

'The way she says it, it's strange.  I think she's pretending.  "You have to know.  You know everything."'

My Teaser:
I kicked off this week reading My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares.  Sounds familiar?  Ms. Brashares is the author behind the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series and this is actually her first foray into adult fiction.  I am really excited about how this book would turn out because apart from reading a book from a different genre from an author who's known for predominantly YA fiction, this story also ticks my imagination.  How?  I'll tell you in my book review!

“I knew I had been alive before.  I didn't need to convince anyone else to know the truth of it."

My Teaser:
I'm reading Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger, and despite the many negative reviews, I am enjoying the story so far, and I hope the enjoyment would last until the ending.

“Are you sure we want the room that overlooks the cemetery?  It seems weird, you know; like, if this was a movie, there would be all these zombies or something creeping out of there at night and climbing up the ivy and grabbing us by our hair and turning us into zombies.”

My Teaser:

I'm reading The Brethren by John Grisham.  Most of my earlier books were of his stories and I've always liked his style of writing.  I used to dream of being a lawyer and I looked up to him as a role model.  Funny how I got into the health care instead.

“It began with the sound of a bomb, then footage of the Marine barracks in Beirut; smoke, rubble, chaos, Marines being pulled from debris, mangled bodies, Marines lying dead in a neat row.”

-page 65,
The Brethren by John Grisham

Sounds a bit too morbid?  I am so excited to see how all these will unfold and I can't wait to sure my review of this book to you, so watch out for that.

“The door was opened and the air was now slightly more breathable, given that there is still some methane in the air outside the conference room.”

going to have it.”

My Teaser:

My teaser for this week is from Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.  I picked up this book because a blogger recommended it to me, Zoe of In the Next Room.  I read the synopsis, and realizing that the plot revolves around a girl with anorexia, I grab it.  I don't know, but I am very fascinated with stories that relates to any mental illness.  And although I just started this, I can tell this would be a very good read.

Teaser Tuesdays (First Ever!)

Teaser Tuesdays
is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:

As you can see on my side bar, I'm supposed to be currently reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. But yesterday, the boyfriend and I went to the mall to go get new books (his gift for my birthday), and after he bought the one I wanted (Dash and Lily's Book of Dares -sweet!), we still went around and looked at other titles. That's when I found this book, I Kissed a Zombie and I Liked It by Adam Selzer. I laughed out loud at the title and got more interested by the blurb. So today, I sort of interrupted my reading routine to finish this first before The Memory Keeper, since it's just a very short novel anyway.

So here we go:

"He climbs slowly down the ladder - I can tell that it hurts him like hell. I sit up on the mattress and he sits next to me."

-I Kissed a Zombie and I Liked It by Adam Selzer, page 89
