Teaser Tuesday: Bella by Steve Piacente

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two "teaser" sentences from that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! You don't want to ruin the book for others!
* Share the title and author so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:
There is an exciting new writer on the block!  I was introduced to Steve Piacente and his book, Bella, through a giveaway from a fellow blogger, Kate Evangelista of Reads, Reviews, Recommends.  What's more awesome is that not only did I receive a copy of this book, it was signed by Steve himself, with more than a couple of bookmarks that look so lovely.  This is my first-ever book win and I am so excited, I decided to skip the book I was supposed to read to replace with this one!

Summary:

A striking widow intent on proving the military lied about her husband's death lures a Washington journalist into the investigation. Working together, they discover the power of temptation, the futility of revenge, and the consequences of yielding to either.

The Teaser:

"It's possible.  He's capable of deception, as we've seen.  I'll do some snooping.  I'll let you know if I find anything."

  2. I love the teaser, but I have to say it sweetie.

    The cover for Bella looks really similar to the first Twilight book. ^^;

    Please don't kill me everyone. *hides under a rock*

    Here's my teaser as a truce :3 : http://amateurvoicekp.blogspot.com/2011/03/teaser-tuesday-probability-angels.html

  3. Kelsa: It does look a bit similar, with those hands giving something. But the story and genre are very different, and although I haven't read past the first few pages yet, I guess I could understand the meaning of the book cover.

    No one is going to kill you, promise!

  4. Hi guys, Steve here. Thought I'd weigh in. Believe it or not, I never saw the Twilight cover until someone brought it to my attention recently. What we were going for was a pair of very expressive hands holding the tattered remains of Hank's uniform, with the Capitol suggesting the cover-up was rooted in Washington. The hands, by the way, belong to my daughter Ali. After going through a lot of possible models, I noticed Ali cutting tomatoes during Thanksgiving dinner a few years ago. At that moment, I realized we had our model! Another side note: if you watch the trailer on getbella.com, that's my other daughter Danielle in a cameo as Bella! Thanks, and hope you'll friend our FB page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bella/134040986612135

I just have to tell you, ARGH feeds on awesomeness, so if you can, drop him some awesome here, and I promise to give some awesome back :D

Right now, because of my really busy schedule, I'm cutting back on receiving awards. So until further notice, me and ARGH would not be accepting awards. But thank you for thinking of us, we really appreciate it!
